Millwall FC is a professional soccer football club based in the South East part of London who play in the EFL Championship aka the Championship which is the second tier division for all English football clubs. Like my favorite club manager said (Ted Lasso) kinda weird that the top league is called the Premier League but the second tier is called the Championship. Anyways, this club was founded in 1885, their colors are navy blue and white, and as you can see from the photo below are nicknamed “the Lions”. They’ve been in the Championship since 2017.

There are no tube stations near but you can take the train to South Bermondsey, and an Uber from Central London is like 20ish minutes and traffic isn’t that bad 👍
Entering venue was a breeze. Many entrances and no long wait. ❤️
Pregame options - also pretty great ❤️
Millwall Cafe right outside stadium. Pretty standard eats - hamburgers, hot dogs,
frieschips (we got the hot dog and chips for 10 pounds). People eat and hang out before the game. There’s a few benches around to sit but most people stand and mingle.
Four:
Comfort and Viewing Experience - 👍
This is a pretty old stadium (built in the early 90’s) so the seats and bathrooms are what you can imagine. Seats aren’t too uncomfortable and restrooms look like something straight out of an old high school movie.
1 jumbotron in the one of the corners of the stadium that isn’t quite hi def but does the job
However, since it’s a relatively small stadium (capacity of 18,000ish) there aren’t really any bad seats
Amenities - 👎
At halftime everyone congregates inside to get a pint (6 pounds) and a bite to eat.
Snackish types of food. Nothing extraordinary which makes sense why most people eat beforehand
Engagement & Team Experience - 👎
So the atmosphere here is what you may or may not imagined depending on what stereotypes you might have of English football fans.
There was a couple fans in the home section who were yelling at the opposing team for 89 out of the 90 minutes. Quite impressive and amusing at times but also very intense. “Fucking cunt” was probably said 1 million times (slight exaggeration).
There was a nice team shop right outside with many options for fans to grab some gear.
Since this stadium isn’t that old you don’t quite get any type of special aura feel.
Safety & Security - 👍
Based off what I said above, I can definitely get foreigners apprehension to being in an environment like this, but there was never any moment where it felt like it would’ve turned violent. There were many police and stadium guards on duty to ensure safety despite never once telling the fans to calm down.

Post - ❤️
Leaving is just as easy as getting in. No sense of bottlenecking whatsoever
There’s a bar (I believe associated with Millwall FC) that serves postgame beers for fans that want to stick around
There’s a few local breweries that are worth going to:
Small Beer Brew Co. - spacious place with enough seating for people looking for some great beers near the stadium. Less than a five minute walk
Battersea Brewery & The Outpost (Three Hills Brewing)
Going to lump both of these together as theyre next to each other. A bit further of walk from The Den but still probably worth going to if you’re looking for something in the area.
Not as much seating indoors but a few outside if its nice/warm enough to be outside (it was pretty cold when I went).
Final Score: (👍)
Based off all our factors and ratings we think anyone visiting “the Den” will have about an average time. The main appeal is for those who look forward to hanging out before and after the game as there are plenty of options for those looking to enjoy the extracurriculars of going to a game. The venue itself is what’s expected from something built in the 90’s and there aren’t much amenities to keep you engaged throughout the match.
